How to make your biodata
Four steps, and you can stop and come back at any time.
- Fill in the details you want to share. Leave out anything you prefer not to include; empty fields do not appear on the biodata.
- Open the religious and horoscope section only if your family uses it.
- Choose a design and the language for the labels: English or one of eight Indian languages.
- Select “Print or save as PDF”. To get a PDF file, choose “Save as PDF” as the printer.
What a good biodata includes
Clear, honest and short enough to read in a minute.
- Basic details: name, date of birth, height, education, occupation and where you live now.
- Family: parents’ names and occupations, brothers and sisters, and your native place.
- A short “about me” in your own words, and what you hope for in a partner.
- One contact person and number, usually a parent.
- A recent, clear photo where your face is easy to see.
Keep it to one page. Be accurate about age, education, income and marital status: a biodata that matches reality builds trust with the other family from the first conversation.

Should I include caste, gotra or horoscope details?
Only if you and your family want to. Those fields are optional, and the biodata prints only what you fill in.
What should a biodata for a second marriage include?
The same details as any biodata, plus your marital status and, if you have children, a short honest line about them. Our second-marriage format adds that field for you.
