Child safety standards

Our standards against child sexual abuse and exploitation, how we prevent it, and how to report it.

Effective 9 September 2026

Mafimo has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and any attempt to groom, solicit, endanger or sexually exploit a minor are absolutely prohibited on Mafimo. We remove such content, permanently terminate the accounts responsible, preserve the evidence and report to the relevant authorities.

Mafimo is for adults only

Minors are not permitted on Mafimo, and the platform is built and distributed on that basis.

Mafimo is a matrimonial service for adults seeking marriage. Our Terms of Service set a minimum age of 21 years, and every person who creates an account must confirm that they meet it. Creating an account for, or on behalf of, anyone under 21 is a breach of those terms. Read them at https://mafimo.com/terms.

  • The minimum age to hold a Mafimo account is 21.
  • The app is distributed with an adult content rating and an 18+ target audience, and access by minors is restricted at the store level.
  • We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21. If we learn that we hold data belonging to a minor, we delete it and close the account.
  • Identity can be confirmed through Aadhaar offline eKYC, the government-authorised route, which independently establishes who a person is rather than relying on what they typed.

A stated minimum age is only as good as what happens when someone ignores it. If you believe a profile belongs to a minor, please report it using the steps below. We act on those reports.

How the platform is designed to prevent abuse

Several of the routes abuse normally travels down simply do not exist in Mafimo.

Much of our protection is structural rather than reactive. The features that make grooming and solicitation possible on other platforms were never built into Mafimo.

  • There is no messaging or chat anywhere in Mafimo. No stranger can send anyone a message, because there is no inbox to send it to.
  • There is no way to send a photo, video, file or link to another person. Users cannot exchange media at all.
  • Phone numbers and email addresses stay hidden until both people have completed Aadhaar verification. Contact details are not browsable.
  • Mafimo is explicitly not a dating or casual-relationship service. Using it for dating, casual relationships or any purpose other than seeking marriage is prohibited by our Terms, and profiles doing so can be reported and removed.
  • Profiles are typically created and managed within a family, often by a parent or sibling, which is a further check on who appears on the platform.

How to report a child safety concern

Anyone can report a profile from inside the app, and anyone at all can email us.

Every profile in Mafimo carries a Report option, available to any signed-in user. You do not need to interact with a profile to report it.

  1. Open the profile you are concerned about.
  2. Choose Report.
  3. Pick the category and the reason that best describe the problem.
  4. Add a description. Please say plainly if you believe a minor is involved.
  5. Submit. Your report reaches our team for review.

If you believe a child is involved, or that someone is being groomed or exploited, please also email protect@mafimo.com so that it is escalated immediately. You do not need a Mafimo account to email us, and you may report anonymously.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local police first. In India you can call 112 for emergencies, or Childline on 1098.

What happens after a report

Every report is reviewed by a person, and child safety reports are prioritised.

Reports are recorded and tracked to resolution by our team. Reports involving a suspected minor, or any suggestion of sexual abuse or exploitation, are treated as the highest priority and are reviewed ahead of everything else.

  • We remove the offending content and the profile carrying it.
  • We suspend or permanently terminate the account responsible, and we act to prevent the same person returning.
  • We preserve the account records and content associated with the report so that they are available to law enforcement.
  • We report to the relevant authorities where the law requires it, or where we judge that a child is at risk.

We do not require a reporter to prove their case before we act. Where a child may be at risk, we act on the report first and establish the detail afterwards.
