Hindu families across India differ in language, region, food, customs and how they approach a match. For families who use them, horoscope details are part of the first conversation. Kundali matching compares the two horoscopes, most commonly with the Ashtakoot method scored out of 36 gunas. Many families also avoid a match within the same gotra and check manglik status.

• Accurate birth time and place matter most for kundali matching.
• Treat the score as one input among many, alongside values and compatibility.
• If your family does not use horoscopes, you can leave all these fields empty.

Registering a Hindu marriage

Hindu marriages are governed by the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, which also applies to Jains, Buddhists and Sikhs. Registering the marriage gives the couple an official certificate, which is useful for passports, visas and joint documents.
