Indian matrimony in Australia
For Indians in Australia, a match usually involves family in India and sometimes relatives elsewhere in Australia. Mafimo lets everyone review the same profiles, and you can state your citizenship, PR or visa status clearly from the start.
Plans families will ask about
Families in India will want to understand your status in Australia, whether citizen, permanent resident, or on a skilled or student visa, and whether you plan to stay. Where you live matters too: life in Sydney or Melbourne is different from a regional town.
- State your status and city in one line.
- Say whether a spouse would move to Australia, and roughly when.
- Mention family already in Australia, which reassures many parents.
Time difference
Eastern Australia is 4.5 hours ahead of India in winter and 5.5 hours ahead during daylight saving. Australian evenings line up with Indian afternoons, which suits calls between families.
Checks worth doing
As with any overseas proposal, confirm employment and visa status once conversations are serious, and speak with the person’s family in India. The High Commission of India in Canberra and the consulates are the official source for help with documents.
